KORDIA

DESCRIPTION

Fruit: Kordia berries are its strongest feature. It has a characteristic color ranging from deep red to black on the outside and bright red on the inside. The fruits are tied not only on the bouquet branches, but also on the shoots, which increases the yield. Fruit size is large (28-30mm). The taste is very good, sweet. Its hardness is also very good and very attractive for the trade, as it is well stored in refrigerated chambers. Kordia has very good wrist tear resistance due to rain. This variety holds a special place in the market due to the quality characteristics of the berry.

Tree: Kordia Black-root – medium ripening, harvest ripens June 5 – 15. The trees are of standard growth, the crown is wide, tending to lateral vegetation. Kordia is not a self-pollinated variety and blooms late. The need for this variety in cold hours ranges from 900 to 1000, and it is recommended to plant it mainly in mountainous areas. The best pollinators of this variety are VAN, Stella and other similar cherry varieties.

ROOTSTOCK FOR CHERRIES

Gisela 6® (P.cerasus 'Schattemnorelle'x P.canescens sp)

A semi-dwarf rhizome that produces a tree slightly less than Gisela® 5, by about 80 to 90 percent. A good replacement for Gisela® 5, Gisela® 6 is well suited for heavy soil types. The tree structure is very open and round. Very early maturing, despite its strength. This rootstock is tolerant to many cherry viruses. Good rooting, but may need support, especially in the early years of fruiting due to its premature nature.

PHLC® (P. avium χ P. cerasus)

A hybrid between Prunus avium and Prunus cerasus, originating from the Czech Republic. PHLC – dwarf rootstock (least intensive rootstock for sweet and cherry varieties). Trees grafted with this stock have a growth rate of about 50-60% lower. It is a good stock for fertile soils and plants that require certain types of soil and plant maintenance (frequent irrigation, watering and proper pruning to stimulate the young). Suitable for high density gardens.
All cherry and sweet cherry varieties grafted with this rootstock showed excellent fruiting, high yield and good fruit quality.

ΜΑΧΜΑ DELBARD® 14 brokforest (P. mahaleb χ P. avium)
Saplings grafted on Maxma Delbard® 14 rootstock are more intensive than plants grafted on CAB 6P (about 20%). Suitable for well-drained soils, poorly adapted to heavy soils, suitable for semi-arid areas with high demand and low rainfall. They are susceptible to Phytophtora and Tumefaciens with Pseudomonas tolerance. Maxima 14 has a higher efficiency, yield and better fruit quality than seeds sown in seedlings.
